This delicate, gleaming-white set of five Japanese porcelain palettes is a lovely addition to any watercolor studio. Arrange the palettes with their points on a central circle, and your set of petals will turn into a sakura blossom.

It's a great palette for color mixing, because there's lots of space to blend without making a mess. The sectional style prevents any unwanted mixing, and the porcelain surface makes cleanup so easy.

Glazed ceramic palettes are the gold standard — unlike metal and plastic, glazed ceramic allows water-based paints to spread out and show their true colors. On plastic palettes, the paint simply beads up, so it's hard to mix and evaluate the color.
