Brittania Watercolor Block, Cold Press

Affordable, Durable, Easy to Use
Hahnemühle Brittania is made by one of the world's foremost art paper manufacturers, and it has many of the same specs as more expensive papers — but it's offered at a price that anyone can appreciate. Brittania is acid-free, lignin-free, and light-resistant, with extraordinary archival durability, so it can be used for permanent work, not just practice.
Brittania blocks are glue-bound, like pro watercolor paper, so that the edges will not curl up as you work. The paper possesses excellent wet strength, and even when using lots of water, it retains its original shape.
This is cold-press version of Brittania, with a pronounced, dappled texture that is traditional for watercolor and gouache. It's also an excellent choice for all kinds of drawing ink; and, of course, you can use dry drawing media like pencils and pastels. That versatility makes Brittania a popular paper among mixed media artists.
Natural white color. Twelve sheets per block. 300 gsm (140#) paper weight. Made from sustainably-harvested cellulose (tree pulp) using a process that protects the local and global environment.
Hahnemühle Since 1584
Hahnemühle is an historic European papermaker, with a history that reaches back 400 years to the earliest milling activity near Dassel, Germany. The rivers that flow through this region have provided Hahnemühle a key raw material (water) and a source of clean power for many, many years. Today's Hahnemühle builds on this rich history with high-quality paper products, made with a close eye on sustainability.
Hahnemühle — Respecting Nature
Hahnemühle only uses primary paper pulp that comes from sustainable and FSC- or PEFC-certified tree farms. In these responsibly managed areas, 3-4 trees are planted for each tree harvested.
As early as 1965, Hahnemühle was the first paper manufacturer worldwide to produce exclusively vegan papers. Animal glues made of gelatin or substrates of animal origin are not allowed in Hahnemühle papers. Instead, Hahnemühle uses a synthetic sizing to treat its papers. This vegan sizing is biodegradable; it contains no genetically modified organisms; and it's free from harmful or toxic substances.
